“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” |
—John 1:12 |
The process through which God reconciles sinful humans to Himself remains a great mystery in so many aspects. Why would God choose to do this? I don’t know. We surely have done nothing to make us worthy of His love.
The Apostle John explores this great mystery when He writes about God’s Son, Jesus, in John 1:10-13:
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Let us rejoice this day that, through the power of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, God has transformed us from mere “creatures” (creations) to His own dearly loved “children.”
