Enter [the Lord’s] gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. |
—Psalm 100:4-5 |
This week begins the march towards Thursday for the traditional United States holiday of Thanksgiving Day. Based on a celebration held by the pilgrims and Native Americans to celebrate the fall harvest, this holiday has come to mean so much more over the years.
As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can readily proclaim that every day of our lives should become a day of thanksgiving. We Christians have every reason to celebrate because the suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension of our Savior has given us God’s love gift of salvation through the shed blood of His precious one and only Son. The Scripture verse at the beginning of this blog post encapsulates the attitude that we all should have as we begin each day. Breaking down the elements of this verse, we note the following:- Enter God’s gates with thanksgiving
- Enter God’s courts with praise
- Gift thanks to God
- Praise His name
- We do this because the Lord is good
- We do this because God’s love endures forever
- We do this because God’s faithfulness continues through all generations
