Three Memorable Points

Photo of a Scripture verse

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
—Romans 12:12

It is quite common in the self-help and motivational speaker community to develop three-pronged plans for solving very real problems. This is based on the idea that most people can easily remember three points. Thus, if a speaker can devise three memorable points, there is a greater chance that the listeners will remember and apply the suggested problem-solving recommendations.

In our Christian Spiritual Formation, the Apostle Paul complies with this adult learning concept by offering a three-pronged approach to successful living, as recorded in Romans 12:12:

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

These three succinct, but very serious, recommendations offer excellent advice for those who wish to accelerate their own Christian Spiritual Formation. No matter what happens in our lives, we should be “joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” This tried-and-true pathway for living really works.

Let’s keep these three memorable points fully in mind, as we begin another day. By so doing, we can see our own Christian Spiritual Formation grow exponentially.
