Resting in God's Arms

[Graphic of Jesus carrying someone in His arms]

“For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer
for doing good than for doing evil.”
—1 Peter 3:17

So far in your life, you may not have been called upon to suffer. Don’t think you have escaped. Everyone suffers in some large or small way before they die.

Suffering is not something we should seek. But when it comes, we should remember that God understands our suffering. He longs to support us and give us the grace to move forward.

The Apostle Peter wrote these words in 1 Peter 3:17-18:

For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

While suffering is never pleasant, when we are called on to suffer let us remember the suffering of Jesus in our behalf. Then, let us fall back into the loving arms of God. He will surely carry us and soothe our suffering.
