Ceaseless Prayer

“For this reason, since the day we heard about
you, we have not stopped praying for you.”
—Colossians 1:9a

Have you ever discovered something that was of such benefit to yourself, or those you love, that you wanted to keep doing it over and over again?

I enjoy hosting friends for lunch or dinner. In fact, I enjoy it so much that I regularly invite a small circle of close friends to join me for lunch after church on Sunday. It gives me great pleasure to share God’s bounty with them in this small way.

The Apostle Paul felt this way about prayer. Please take note of what Paul wrote in Colossians 1:9:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives…

What a wonderful gift Paul gave to those in Colosse. Paul’s prayers stand as a powerful testimony of his love for the “Christ’s-ones” in the Colossian church—much better than hosting someone for a meal.

As we begin this new day, let’s purposefully determine to pray earnestly and fervently for those we love. This will surely be a significant evidence of our sincere caring.
